Because of its good heat-resistance, formability, gelatinousness, chargeability, big specific surface area and being nontoxic, tasteless and odorless, alkaline silicasol is widely applied in various fields. Only a few major application fields are as follows:
Precision casting
Because of its good cohesiveness, low contractility and perfect conversion into glass under high temperature, silicasol is applied in precision casting as shell adhesive.
Refractory material
Silicate refractory fiber, made from silicasol as principle raw material, is widely applied in heating and industrial appliance such as industrial furnace. It is used as heat insulating material because of its excellent energy conservation and heat resistance.
High Polymer Material
Organic silicasol is actually a disperse system of nanoscale silicon dioxide in organic solvent. So it is widely applied in modification of high polymer materials.
Coating
Silicasol can be made into coating for casting with fireproof powder. When casing steel ingot, this coating can prevent the adhesion of liquid steel and abrasion of slab. In equal volume of silicasol, small-scale silicasol has sharply increased colloidal particles and contact points. So it is of superior cohesiveness, higher strength of paint film and capability of coating.

Storage, transportation and elimination:
1. This product can be only deposited in clean and dry closed plastic drums and preserved in ventilated and dry place under 5-40℃.
2. This product is nontoxic and non-dangerous and can be handled under carriage of non-dangerous goods.
3. The container which has contacted or contained this product should be cleaned as soon as possible to prevent deposit of silicon dioxide. Or the deposit can be eliminated with 5%-10% sodium hydroxide solution under 50-60℃.
